Filipino Mechanical Engineers Gather in Dubai for Inaugural Middle East Summit
Dubai, United Arab Emirates - The 1st Middle East Mechanical Engineering Summit kicked off on December 1st, 2023, in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The event brought together Filipino professionals from the United Arab Emirates and neighboring Middle East countries, including Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, and Singapore. With the theme "Empowering Filipino Mechanical Engineers: Pioneering Sustainable Excellence through Unity and Professionalism," the summit aimed to foster collaboration and innovation among mechanical engineers in the region.
One of the highlights of the summit was the face-to-face oathtaking ceremony for the April 2023 Special Professional Licensure Examination (SPLE) passers from various engineering professions. A total of twenty-four SPLE passers, consisting of Professional Mechanical Engineers, Mechanical Engineers, Civil Engineers, and Master Plumbers, took their oaths before the esteemed Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) Chairperson, Honorable Charito A. Zamora.
Honorable Charito A. Zamora, the keynote speaker at the event, emphasized the importance of upholding the ethics and standards of the engineering profession. She encouraged the new professionals to fulfill their duties and responsibilities with utmost professionalism and integrity, regardless of their location or practice.
During the oathtaking ceremony, the new professionals pledged their commitment to abide by the ethical and professional guidelines throughout their careers. "Taimtim pa rin akong manunumpa na sa lahat ng panahon at pook na kinaroroonan ay mahigpit akong manghahawakan sa mga etikal at tuntuning propesyonal," they vowed, reaffirming their dedication to maintaining the highest standards of their respective professions, both in the Middle East and the Philippines.
The PRC, represented by Hon Leandro A. Conti, Chairperson of the Professional Regulatory Board of Mechanical Engineering, along with board members Hon. Jerico T. Borja and Hon. Lorenzo P. Larion, congratulated the new professionals on their achievement. They emphasized that the practice of the profession is a privilege that must be carried out with unwavering adherence to the Code of Ethics and Standards of professional practice.
The addition of these new professionals to the roster further strengthens the importance of their respective fields in promoting sustainable engineering practices not only in the Middle East but across the globe.
