The City Government of Manila has announced a change in its working hours, according to a public service advisory released by the Manila Public Information Office.
As per Executive Order No. 22, Series of 2024, city government employees are now required to report to work from 7 AM to 4 PM from Mondays to Fridays. This adjustment in working hours is part of the city’s efforts to streamline operations and enhance efficiency.
In addition to the adjusted working hours, the order also provides for flexible work arrangements for the purpose of transacting official business. Each Department Head is mandated to designate and rotate employees in their respective offices who will continue to work from 8 AM to 5 PM. This arrangement is designed to ensure that official business can continue up to 5 o’clock in the afternoon for the benefit of the transacting public.
In choosing personnel who will be allowed to work from 8 AM to 5 PM, priority will be given to those who live far from Metro Manila. This move is seen as a way to accommodate employees who may have longer commute times.
The new working hours and flexible work arrangements are expected to bring about a positive change in the city government’s operations, benefiting both the employees and the public.
